HR 101 for Leaders

HR is a word used to generally describe the management of people. But what does this necessary function of business actually do? When it comes to hiring, firing and everything in between HR 101 for Leaders is your guide. In this 6-hour workshop, you will be given the knowledge to develop a solid foundation in Human Resources. At the end of this workshop, you will have an understanding of how Employment Law, HR functions and HR Policy impact your role as an organizational Leader as well as your organization’s resilience.

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the functional areas of HR Management
  • Identify and apply Employment Laws
  • Define the basic terminology frequently used by HR
  • Summarize a leader’s role and responsibilities in common organizational HR policies and procedures
  • Describe how HR plays a strategic role within organizations

As a professional coming out of retail management and entering the HR industry I was searching for guidance in navigating my new career path. The Leadership Arts Associates class “HR 101 for Leaders” provided me with an experience that was even beyond what I was looking for. Not only did the class equip me with the basics, the presenters stretched my thinking and helped me discover the value of my natural strengths. The small class size gave me an opportunity to have one-on-one coaching in a relaxed setting with the conversation steered towards my personal questions and needs. I entered the seminar hoping to gain a general understanding of the essential HR functions and left feeling more prepared and confident in my abilities.
